Communication is so vitally important when you’re trying to parent in two homes. So often parents leave their communication to text messages or emails. There are so many opportunities for miscommunication or forgetting what each other said. Why leave it to chance? There are many communication tools available for separated parents. Here are a few:
At the very least, and if nothing else we recommend that you set up a shared calendaring system whereby all of the kids’ events and activities as well as the parenting schedule are placed into the calendar for both parents (and kids if age appropriate) to view. Doing this will significantly reduce the opportunities for either parent being able to claim that they “didn’t know” about an event.
